           Pastor David Jay Thorpe Jr. was an active member of the First Millsboro SDA Church in
Millsboro, De., since 2006. Where he was baptized, married, and mentored by Dr. Colby
Matlock Sr. His tenacity for the evangelism of God’s word led him to be ordained as an elder in
2010. He served as First Elder for several years up until 2017, when he accepted the calling into
ministry and entered the seminary. Pastor Thorpe also had the privilege of serving as the Bay
Area Youth Federation Coordinator during 2015-2017. He is currently a member of the NAACP
of Maryland, The Watchmen with One Voice Ministerial Alliance and serves as a School-Based
Mentor with the Wicomico Mentoring Project in the local school district. He has a special
interest in emphasizing the elevation of the young people as leaders in the church because they
are a vital element for church growth.


        A native of Darby Township in Delaware County Pa. Pastor Thorpe earned a Bachelor of
Science in Psychology from Wilmington University, a Master of Divinity from the seminary at
Andrews University, His next goal will be in pursuit of a Doctorate in Ministry in the future. He
is the former pastor of Faith Seventh-day Adventist in Cambridge, Md., and is currently the
pastor of New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salisbury Md. Pastor Thorpe has been
happily married to his wife of 17 years Natosha Thorpe who is a graduate of Delaware State
University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and employed at Encompass Rehabilitation in
Salisbury, Md. as a Case Manager. They are blessed to have an amazing son Jaylin Thorpe who
currently attends Oakwood University.


       He enjoys studying the word of God, reading, cooking, flying kites at the beach, and just
enjoying having a great conversation with friends and family. Pastor Thorpe is a strong believer
in the transforming power of God because of how God has impacted his own life. He is driven
by a passion and love for serving his God, family, church, and community. The scripture text that
often reminds him of his testimony is of the words of the Psalmist David when he sings “I will
lift my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help."  (Psalms 121:1).
